Seasonal Feature
Fireworks
A fleeting art that blooms in the night sky.
About This Feature
With a thunderous boom that you feel in your chest, enormous flowers of light bloom across the night sky. Fireworks festivals are Japan's ultimate summer event.
Hundreds of fireworks festivals are held across Japan each year, ranging from intimate local shows with a few thousand shells to massive spectacles launching tens of thousands. Watching the sky fill with light over a riverside or oceanside venue never gets old.
Sound is a big part of the experience too. Watching up close versus from a distance creates completely different impressions — visit a few shows and discover your favorite way to enjoy them.
Seasonal Highlights
Location Changes Everything
The closer you are to the launch site, the more intense the sound and light. From a distance, you get a stunning panoramic view of the entire night sky.
Waterfront Splendor
Fireworks reflected on water are extraordinarily beautiful. Riverside and oceanside venues offer the luxurious sight of fireworks mirrored below.
A Special Night in Yukata
Gazing up at fireworks in a yukata on a summer night creates a memory that lasts forever. Fireworks festivals are the perfect occasion to try wearing one.
Music & Fireworks Combined
More and more shows now synchronize fireworks with music for a multi-sensory spectacle. Look forward to an emotional show of sound and light.

Tips for Enjoying
Bring a Picnic Blanket
Fireworks viewing can last a while. A picnic blanket lets you sit comfortably on the ground and enjoy the show at ease.
Arrive 2–3 Hours Early
Popular viewing spots fill up fast. If you have a preferred location in mind, arrive several hours before the show starts.
Factor in the Crowds After
Transport gets extremely crowded right after the finale. Leave a bit early or wait at the venue for a while until the rush subsides.
