A cycling event starting from Sagae City, Yamagata Prefecture, traversing one city and four towns: Nishikawa Town, Oe Town, Asahi Town, and Kahoku Town. Two courses are available: Gran Fondo (approx. 100 km) and Medio Fondo (approx. 50 km). So popular that the 1,000-person capacity fills within one day of registration opening, securing a spot is itself a challenge. The biggest draw is the eight aid stations on both courses, serving Kahoku Town's famous cold niku-soba noodles, tama-konnyaku, tofu sweets, local sausages, apple-new pork miso soup, wild vegetable rice balls, and grape juice — a generous sampling of Yamagata specialties. Participants say 'the course is tough but the post-ride celebration makes it all worth it' and 'the joy of riding with friends is special — we'll definitely come back next year,' resulting in very high repeat participation. The exhilaration of riding through the grand nature of the Nishimurayama region combined with the outstanding local food creates a uniquely satisfying experience.
