Shimokitazawa Music Festival, 35th Edition, July 2026

The outdoor free live performances 'FuraFura Shimokitazawa' held at various locations throughout the town and brass band marching parades capture the unique charm of Shimokitazawa. With the Grand Finale Live at Kitazawa Town Hall and nearly 20 diverse programs, you can immerse yourself in four days of music.

Founded in 1991 as the 'World Music Festival in Shimokitazawa' and renamed to 'Shimokitazawa Music Festival' from the 19th edition in 2009. Under the motto of 'Cross-Generational Coexistence through Sound,' it has sustained musical exchange across all generations for 35 years.

A music festival that began with the 1991 'World Music Festival in Shimokitazawa.' Originally known as the 'Kitazawa Music Festival,' it was renamed to 'Shimokitazawa Music Festival' from the 19th edition. Under the theme of 'Cross-Generational Coexistence through Sound,' the entire town of Shimokitazawa — including live houses, shopping streets, and public facilities — serves as the venue. Musicians of all levels and genres perform. The 34th edition was held July 3-6, 2025, with the 35th edition expected in 2026.

Shimokitazawa Station on the Odakyu Line and Keio Inokashira Line. Kitazawa Town Hall is about a 4-minute walk from the east exit or Keio central exit of Shimokitazawa Station. With the entire town as the venue, you'll be enveloped in the festival atmosphere the moment you step off the train.

The Grand Finale Live is very popular and gets crowded. Outdoor free live performances take place at various spots throughout the town, allowing for casual enjoyment while strolling.

Shimokitazawa is known for its vintage clothing shops and cafes, so you can combine the music festival with town exploration. Bring a folding umbrella as outdoor performances are weather-dependent.
