Shirasagi no Mai (White Heron Dance) Performance - April 12, 2026
The traditional 'Shirasagi no Mai' (White Heron Dance), restored by the Asakusa Tourism Federation in 1968, is performed at Senso-ji Temple. Based on the 'Sagi-mai' depicted in a 1652 Senso-ji picture scroll, approximately 25 performers dressed as warriors, musicians, and white herons in period costumes depart from Denpoin, parade through Nakamise and Kaminarimon Street, then perform on the west plaza in front of Senso-ji's main hall. Two performances are held: 11:30 AM and 2:40 PM. Canceled in rain.
