Kurayami Matsuri (Okunitama Shrine Grand Festival)
The grand festival of Okunitama Shrine, known as 'Kurayami Matsuri' (Darkness Festival) because the mikoshi procession takes place in the dark. Beginning with the Shinagawa Sea Purification Ceremony on April 30, the main event is the evening mikoshi procession on May 5. One of the largest festivals in the Kanto region, attracting about 800,000 visitors.
