国指定重要無形民俗文化財かつユネスコ無形文化遺産に登録された博多の伝統祭り。
7月1日から15日の15日間開催され、クライマックスは7月15日早朝4時59分スタートの追い山笠。約5kmのコースを山笠が疾走する圧巻の光景が見どころ。
