Hotaru no Utage (Firefly Soiree)
A firefly viewing event held on early summer evenings at Manyo Park in Yugawara Onsen. Enjoy the fantastical sight of Genji fireflies—raised from larvae in the park—dancing among the dark trees. Naturally occurring fireflies can also be seen, with native fireflies living along the Fujiki and Chitose Rivers. On Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, kitchen cars, hand-held lantern sales, and ema votive tablet dedications at the Tanuki Fuku Shrine (for matchmaking blessings) are available. Free admission.
