杉戸夏まつりは約190年の歴史を持つ「天王様のお祭り」として、地元で深く愛されている夏の風物詩。最大の見どころは大人神輿十数基が町内を練り歩く渡御で、県内でも最大級の規模を誇る。力強い掛け声とともに神輿が交差点で勢いよく揺れる様子は迫力満点で、沿道には多くの見物客が詰めかける。子ども神輿や子ども山車も繰り出し、よさこいソーランや鼓笛隊の演奏など、大人から子どもまで楽しめる催しが2日間にわたって繰り広げられる。地元商店街沿いには焼きそばやかき氷といった定番屋台が並び、お祭り気分を盛り上げる。町の規模ならではのアットホームな雰囲気の中、神輿の熱気と夏の夜風が心地よく混ざり合う、地域密着型の祭りらしい温かさが魅力。
