約380年以上の歴史を誇る肥後三大夏祭りの一つ。
毎年8月23・24日の二日間、宇土市本町で開催される。お地蔵様を子どもたちが飾り立て、祭り当日は大通りが歩行者天国となり、各町内自慢の造り物が展示される。初日の夜には花火大会も行われる。
