The 60th Katsushika Noryo Fireworks Festival
A beloved summer tradition of Tokyo's shitamachi (downtown) district, first started in 1953 by local volunteers in Shibamata. The festival celebrates its milestone 60th edition in 2026. Held at the Shibamata Baseball Field on the Edogawa River bank in Katsushika Ward, the event features approximately 20,000 fireworks and a drone show. Its greatest appeal is the exceptionally close distance between the launch site and spectators, allowing visitors to feel the sound and vibration of the fireworks throughout their entire body—an unparalleled sense of immersion among Tokyo's fireworks festivals.

Visitor Report
The 2026 edition marks the 60th anniversary with approximately 20,000 fireworks plus a drone show planned, generating even more excitement than usual. The greatest feature is the very close distance between the launch site and spectators, with visitors praising the powerful experience of feeling fireworks resonate through their bodies. Creative fireworks featuring popular anime characters are also a signature attraction, making it popular with families. However, with an official attendance of about 770,000 annually, crowds are intense, and some note that the number of food stalls has been declining in recent years.
